Dr. Denny Autrey

Since 2004, Denny Autrey has served as the Dean and Professor of Pastoral Ministries of the J. Dalton Havard School for Theological Studies, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's Houston campus. 

Prior to his election to this post, Dr. Autrey served as senior pastor to various Southern Baptist churches in Texas and Oklahoma (West End Baptist, Galveston, TX; Alta Vista Baptist, Pasadena, TX; FBC, Guymon, OK; and FBC Lindale, TX).  He brings thirty years of pastoral experience. His undergraduate degree is a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in Management and Marketing, and his graduate work began at Southwestern's Houston extension where he earned his MDivBL (1984) and his DMin from Southwestern (1987).  Dr. Autrey is entering his dissertation stage of a PhD from Southwestern in Homiletics and Evangelism.  He is married to Angela and they have three daughters, Amber, Julie Welch, and Haley.

John Godby

John Godby came to First Baptist Church in April 2011 as Interim Worship Pastor and was called to permanent Worship Pastor in January 2012.

John and his wife, Joy, have three children; Micah, Christopher and Caleb and two foster children, Lindy and Virgle.

John received his Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri in 1984 in Church Music and Church Recreation and has been serving churches in Oklahoma and Texas for the past 28 years.  John has led worship since he was in high school and has led the churches he has served to participate in pageants, dramas, handbells, a living Christmas Tree, mission trips and serving in local ministries.

John is passionate about people and their needs concerning the Kingdom of God.  He and his wife love people and Jesus Christ and strive to do whatever it takes to bring the two together.

Mike Mathews

Mike serves as Pastor of Education, Senior Adults, and Chaplain at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community. He has served churches for 35+ years. He has been the pastor of five churches and served in staff positions in three others.

Mike graduated from Troy University with a double major in Business Administration and Marketing. He received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike has completed one and a half years of Clinical Pastoral Education and is a graduate of The Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership through Asbury Theological Seminary.

Mike’s wife, Patti, is an elementary school teacher, who has taught for over 35 years. They have a married son and a married daughter, plus five grandchildren.

Jaime Rios

Pastor Jaime was born and raised in the Houston area. Jaime and Megan were married in 2009. Megan has been serving as a pediatric nurse since May 2004. They have two beautiful twin daughters, Maisy & Payton.

Jaime Rios answered his call to ministry in 2011. Jaime was licensed to preach the Gospel in June 2013 and, in August 2013, graduated from The College of Biblical Studies with a Bachelors in Christian Leadership. Jaime plans to continue his education by starting on his Masters at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2014.

Jaime came to FBC Pearland in the Spring of 2011 and served as a Student Intern. In September 2013, he became the Interim Student Pastor. In March 2014, Jaime also became the interim Children's Pastor. Jaime has a heart to impact children and students with the Gospel.
